Due to its low oil and gas reserves, Germany has not been a country with a pronounced offshore industry. This is currently changing with the development of offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas. This requires not only the offshore wind turbines themselves, but also support structures, foundations, submarine cables, transformer stations and measuring masts. Added to this are shipyards for manufacturing, sea ports for logistics and special ships for installation.

A variety of support structures for offshore wind energy plants

Is there a single support structure that best meets all offshore requirements? In the opinion of SKI engineers, this is hardly possible because a variety of different site conditions (e.g. water depth, subsoil), climatic influences and turbine classes must be taken into account when designing these structures.
